Where to start?

The best place to start would be learning the essentials of Buddhism. The essential include The Four Noble Truths, The Eightfold Path, Dependent Origination, The Middle Way, and Meditation. This may sound like alot but it is actually very easy to start practicing. Remember that this study is a path that takes time, the Buddha took many years of hard practice to reach final enlightenment (Nirvana). These topics are all covered in the Buddhist Learning section of our site, feel free to browse. There are also recommended reading and links to learn more.

Step two is to find others who practice the way of the Buddha. Finding peers to discuss with is important to growth on your journey. Teachers and peers played an important role in the development of Buddhism as the Buddha had many teachers and peers who helped him on his path during his early years seeking Nirvana. Find a Buddhist temple or mindfulness group near you. If you can't find a group near you or anyone who shares your view (peers) try seeking people and information out online, as you are doing now.

Step three, is simply to start meditating and enjoy your spiritual journey through life.
